Game 5 v ADO
Australian Junior Women defeated Australian Defence Organisation 3-0, 25:22, 25:14, 25:20
SET 1 Aus defeated ADO 25:22
Starting rotation: Paine, Sadler, Laird, Morrow, Judd, Stojanovic, McEwen (lib)
AUS starts with the serve in the first set and win the first point with a sharp hit by Jaimee-Lee Morrow in transition. Powerful hitting from AUS gets the game going but poor serving consistency disallows any momentum for the girls. In the second half of the set the team is unable to get past ADO’s defence, even though there is only one block. Though they are giving points away, AUS manages to claim the set, 25-22.
SET 2 Aus defeated ADO 25:14
Starting rotation: Paine, Sadler, Kwok, Morrow, Judd, Stojanovic, McEwen (lib)
AUS needs to change something this set to give them greater confidence and to push the game along in their favour. They are given the first point with a service error from ADO. No block by ADO yet they are continuing to get defensive ups. Judd speeds up her swing and gains kill spikes. They finish the set with points to spare 25-14.
SET 3 Aus defeated ADO 25:20
Starting rotation: Paine, Judd, Kwok, Morrow, Collins, Laird, McEwen (lib)
Paine begins the set with consistent serving, putting the pressure on ADO to return the ball. Morrow takes advantage of the one block situation and begins smashing balls into the floor on the opposite side of the net. Clean passing by McEwen gives AUS the chance to put the ball away but serving errors once again kills the team’s momentum. The ADO error more often and AUS finish the set 25-19.
